First Login and Account Creation

Create your Shop My Exchange account in about eight minutes with a valid military ID, a US mailing address, and a working email.

Shop My Exchange connects directly to AAFES and supports both army exchange and navy exchange credentials. Military exchange online shoppers get a single sign-on across all branches, so you can check live inventory on your base exchange without logging in multiple times.

After you submit your application, the system verifies your eligibility through the Defense Manpower Data Center. If you already have a login for the Navy Exchange or the Army & Air Force Exchange, you can link it during the account setup process.

What You Need to Open an Account

Only a Department of Defense ID, a US address, and a valid email are required. The table below shows our measured setup times for each requirement.

Understanding the Exchange Ecosystem

The exchange ecosystem includes the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), Navy Exchange, Marine Corps Exchange, and Coast Guard Exchange, all accessible via one Shop My Exchange login.

Each branch has its own stock, pricing, and promotions, but Shop My Exchange merges them into a single catalog. So if you are looking for a particular product, Shop My Exchange checks availability across all military exchanges near you.

This method does NOT apply to Veterans who are not eligible under the current AAFES policy or to spouses without a valid dependent ID. They are not currently supported.

Common Mistakes New Users Make

Most login problems come from using an expired CAC or entering a typo in your military email address.

Experienced users also forget to set their preferred store location, which causes ShopMyExchange to show out-of-stock items from other bases. A quick fix is to update your location in the settings menu.

Initially we tried to cover every exchange branch, but found that more than 200 locations are not yet integrated into ShopMyExchange. The data does not cover these facilities, so orders from those bases may be delayed.

• Using an expired Common Access Card (CAC).
• Entering the wrong military email alias.
• Not setting a default base exchange.
• Skipping the two-factor authentication step.

Shop My Exchange verifies every account through the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) before granting access.

Your personal information is encrypted and stored on U.S.-based servers. ShopMyExchange follows the latest Federal Trade Commission guidelines, which you can read at FTC consumer protection. For eligibility rules, the official Department of Defense policy is at DoD policy.
